Scorpions – The Good Die Young

Dedicated to my friend Paul you only just passed but I miss you already mate never forgotten always loved your place in heaven awaits you.

LYRICS

You wake up
Watch the world go ’round
You shiver
Feeling upside down
Your heart is beating fast
Pumping blood to your head
Another day to fight
You have a prayer on your lips under the desert sun
And a loaded gun
You remember every word
That your father said
Stay out of trouble son
And be true to yourself
You’ll be working like a dog
Raise a family
And life will be alright
But now it’s written in the stars if you’ll make it out alive
Out alive
The good die young
There might be no tomorrow
In god we trust
Through all this pain and sorrow
The good die young
The flame will burn forever
And no one knows your name
Bring the boys back home again
It was a quiet day
On the streets of hope
When the bomb went off
At the side of the road
Sounds of breaking steel
An windshield full of blood
No enemy in sight
It feels like in a movie scenes are passing by
It’s your life

  1. a LITTLE SAD BUT THERE IS THE LIGHT AT THE END OF THE TUNNEL, JESUS LONG OR SHORT LIFE THERE IS HOPE AND YES THE GOOD DIE YOUNG OFTEN IS. DEEP THANKYOU I PROBABLY GOT IT WRONG, LOL

  2. I am sorry for your loss. May Paul gets a beautiful room of his prefer style upstairs. Well we shall not worry as our Heavenly Father knows best.

  3. Robbie….this is a beautifully said but abrupt somewhat tragic end to a life that sadly is the ultimate course or trajectory for every one of us. My condolences for the loss of your mate and kindred spirited friend who built and shared quite a few years of memories, and obviously developed a bond that will reach into eternity! I see this in what you wrote joined with the touching lovely tune as “a best mates best eulogy and send off;” to a better place where he now joins so many others in a peace and beauty we can only catch minute glimpses of while here in the flesh. Your friend “Paul” is I’m sure completely fulfilled, and is where any of us can be when our time to go arrives if we are following on the path of light and right; meanwhile we must be steadfast and bold going forward carrying the torch of light, truth, bravery and love to light the way for others who aren’t as strong or sure; but, I know Paul has a great best mate named “Robbie” on this earth that he had the greatest confidence in for good reason, he knew you well and you know how right he was about it! “Bold as Love.”
    God Bless!
    Love,
    Lawrence

  4. Hey Lawrence thank you do much for this it was beautifully written and extremely thoughtful and kind of you I’m very grateful he was a really good man and I’ll miss him as he was a good mate I she’s tears said many prayers and I know he has a place in God’s arms thank you again my friend.

  5. Hi Robbie my long distance mate/brother; yet the connection is remarkably visceral and appreciated! I only said what I felt and to me was coming from my core in the moment just the same way you said and say what is so genuine in you! Dad always told us growing up when someone was mean to us kids, “to take it from where it comes,” and to me the polar opposite of that is love and appreciate what is given to us in genuine good faith! May God’s grace be with you always, good man!
